Happy Thanksgiving Wylder Nation

Happy late Thanksgiving Wylder Nation.  I hope your Holiday was filled with a lot of joy and that you had much to be grateful for.

Last year Steven and I were just not ready to host Turkey day, and really were not much in the mood for celebrating at all.  After much chatting this year, we decided we never really would be “ready” again, but we knew we wanted to be with our friends and family this year.  So this year, we decided being with our family was just what the doctor ordered and we were overjoyed to have a houseful.  We spend much of the year traveling (as you all know), so we really love and appreciate hosting and having Thanksgiving in our own home.  Treasures of Wylder are all around us, the Grinch tree was up, and it is a tradition we have come to love.

Wylder was never far from our mind this last week, as always.  We miss him more than ever on Holiday’s and his memory was in many conversations.  One of our favorite memories is taking his Christmas card photos at this time of year.  He is so very loved and missed.  We also thought of many of our friends who have lost their Littles and how their hearts were feeling this last week.  It will never be the same without them, but we will all be better because we are their momma’s and daddy’s.

We were so happy to have our family around and friends popping in.  It brought so much laughter and goodness into our home that often just feels overwhelmingly quiet.  We were also overjoyed for our growing family and that next year Bruiser and his cousin Kayla (yes, she has a real name already, not like Bruiser, tee hee) will be cruising around at Thanksgiving.  The joy, transition and tradition will continue with more love bugs.

A Simple Thanksgiving Blessing from our home to yours this year ….

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

Wylder, we gave so much thanks for YOU this Thanksgiving.  You will always be our greatest gift.  Giving thanks is something we do now on a daily bases because of YOU.  This thanksgiving was no different; we are thankful for you, for Bruiser, for our amazing family (near and far), for our friends, for the people you continue to bring into our lives, the love and support in our lives and the Lord.  We will see you in our dreams.  xoxo

  1. this is my favorite post you have ever written Shannon! IT was just perfect and full of love and emotions. You blended the pain of losing sweet Wylder with the joy of being his mama and mama to his little brother perfectly. I am glad you had a beautiful holiday-you deserve it. xoxo ,Chelsea
