We had an amazing weekend. I feel very blessed that I got to have a small part in helping out with a BIG makeover for an incredibly special family. Do you all remember me telling you about “Room for Joy” back in the spring? Our friends introduced me to Tory who runs the amazing organization that does absolutely incredible room makeovers for very deserving children.
Room for Joy is dedicated to enhancing the healing process of chronically ill children by providing positive, imaginative bedroom environments. We give special attention to the medical, physical and emotional needs of each child by adding special touches that personalize the rooms and fulfill their dreams! You can visit their site here http://roomforjoy.org/
They do INCREDIBLE makeovers to kids bedrooms and fill these children with JOY! So this weekend was Emmitt’s turn. Meet momma Karla, dad Michael, Big brother Ethan and Little Emmitt. http://emmettsfight.com/
They are a beautiful family who is now raising awareness about the dangers of button batteries, because Emmitt nearly lost his life to one. They are an absolutely amazing family with hearts of gold that you just want to squeeze when you meet. Their survival story is one of courage, faith, and hope … and they are not stopping there. As a family they continue to travel around raising awareness about the danger of batteries for other families. I had the pleasure of meeting this terrific family a few months back where they learned Emmitt would be receiving a room makeover. And to top it off, big brother Ethan was going to get one too. Whoot whoot!! So this weekend was the big makeover. The family headed out for a stay-cation and vacated their own house for 3 full days. Here are the results at the big reveal last night … uh-mazing!
Emmiit’s “PLANES” room
Ethan’s “STAR WARS” room
Joy … playtime fun!!
The family was so elated!! Their faces were priceless!! This got me all pumped up and ready to make little Bruiser’s room amazing too (tee hee). Maybe in the New Year.
As Steven and I were driving home we watched the most beautiful sunset and just knew that Wylder was looking down on us and the joy that was brought to that amazing and deserving family. Then at 7:00pm in honor of World Candle Lighting Day for children gone to soon, we finished our weekend by lighting Wylder’s memorial candle. Thank you to the many of you sent us photos of your candles shining brightly for Wylder. There is no doubt; His light will always shine on.
We miss you and love you Wylder. We will see you in our dreams. xoxo
