A Gift

Koa Padraig is quite simply a dreamy baby.  He seems to be making motherhood as simple as possible and lets me smother him with love day in and day out.

He smiles every single day, and even giggles now.  He loves to take long baths, which you know make him smell like Heaven on Earth and he will coo back at you when you coo at him.  Steven and I are in the race for da- da vs ma-ma (tee hee). Koa likes to change where he sits a lot (although his momma’s arms seem to never get old for him or for me).

He is a real social butterfly and has loved all his visitors.  He has even been getting our and about quite a bit for a 6 week old.

Koa at the bat cave, more on this coming in a future blog

Koa love even sleeps though the night. I almost didn’t even type that, because I don’t want to jinx the awesome-ness of it.  Hip hip hooray!  Co sleeping snuggles are the best for our entire family, and leave us all feeling full of love and well rested.

Bottom line is … he is not much of a “Bruiser” at all, just a little love.

He looks nothing like my sweet Wylder James, and trust me I have checked every nook and cranny.  They are different as two brothers can be, and sometime I wonder if that is not a gift too.  Koa will never be a replacement to his brother, but rather an addition to our family that brings more joy, more love … just like his big brother.  They are two separate loves, so I soak up the fact that they look different, although I know they both have that zesty warrior spirit.

Koa did decide to have some tummy upset issues similar to his big brother.  They have the same inability to break down proteins from certain foods.  But by eliminating dairy, nuts, fish, egg and soy from my diet … Koa is now a champ at eating with nearly no grunting and reflux issues.  YEAH!  Sometime I do find myself having to repeat the mantra “all babies spit up” over and over again and the fear of Niemann pick A will creep into my brain (as you all know, Koa does NOT have NPA), but we will not borrow trouble and just focus on how well Koa is doing.

Koa is a dreamy baby.  Undoubtedly a gift from God and his big brother.  He is so happy and knows he is very loved.  I know he was picked just especially for us and we promise to continue not to take a single day for granite.

Wylder, we miss you with our whole hearts.  We wish you were here in our arms making memories with Koa, but we do feel you every day. Some moments I close my eyes and I think Koa’s breath against my neck is yours.  He will know you, know your strength, your love … I promise.  Hope you feel us say goodnight to you in each beautiful sunset.  We love you, we love you so much.  See you in our dreams little one.  Thank you for Koa, he is perfect.  xoxo
